About the Forum
The Forum is part of the Euregio forum series arranged every second year in Helsinki or in Tallinn. The common Helsinki-Tallinn information space has been identified as an essential missing link between the two capital regions.
The forum will address media as a social phenomenon which covers different types of media (municipal media, outdoor media, municipal home-pages as platforms for information and services, private press, broadcasters, web, national level media etc). It analyses possibilities and needs for overarching cross-border media and ways to trigger regular exchange of content between different types of media in Tallinn and Helsinki. As media consumption is changing thanks to new technologies, there is a need to find channels that reach the target groups.
We seek answers to questions:
- Where lies the opportunity for twin- city common information space, how we communicate with our citizens?
- How are different types of media acting together and do they add value or compete with each other?
- Is the public sector, especially municipalities, flexible enough to interact in the ever-changing media space?
We try to make a step towards common media space of the twin-region leading to joint content and learn about the best practices of other municipalities in the counties (Finnish-Estonian experiences).
The organiser of the event is NPA Helsinki-Tallinn Euregio. Euregio is an organization which promotes the idea of Uusimaa (Finland) and Harjumaa (Estonia) twin-region. In order to fulfill the vision, Euregio coordinates different cross-border development projects being implemented on both sides of Finnish Gulf. Its members are Helsinki City, Tallinn City, Harju County, Uusimaa Regional Council and Union of Harju County Municipalities.
