Prime Minister Juhan Parts visited Finland 26.01.04
On January 26, 2004 Prime Minister Juhan Parts paid a two-day work visit to Finland at the invitation of his colleague Matti Vanhanen. Both prime ministers made a presentation at a seminar at the Osuuspankki Research Institute. Prime Minister Parts’ speech was entitled “Estonia, Finland, and the competitive European Union”. They discussed the cooperation between the two countries in the European Union, bilateral relations, and Finland’s experience in developing a knowledge-based economy. The discussion covered the Wise Men report about the two countries’ relations, which was finalised last year, and the activities arising from it. On January 27, PM Parts had a meeting with Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Paavo Lipponen and the President of Finland Tarja Halonen. He visited also the Finnish National Technology Agency Tekes and the Innopol high-tech centre. Both Estonia and Finland consider it very important to develop R&D cooperation between the two countries.
Euregio representatives were also present in the meetings because the R&D cooperation is also the focus of Euregio’s Science Twin-City project.
